Our Construction Process
At Building Scientist Group construction consists of four pillars: project cost, energy efficiency, indoor air quality, material selection. It is a balancing act between all four and is largely dependent upon how each client priorities these. For example one particular product may be great in indoor air quality and energy efficiency, however, the materials it is made from my not be sustainable or could be harmful during it production. Our scientists understand the attributes of each product, will alert you to these, and allow you to select the products that best fit your goals.
There are no silver bullets. Unfortunately you can’t just buy something that will take care of all your needs in one fell swoop. Many of the problems in our homes are caused because of specialization in the construction industry. The plumber focuses on the plumbing, the electrician on the wiring, and the framer focuses on the structure. Your building is more than just a series of parts, at Building Scientist Group the structure is more than the sum of the parts.
If you are considering a building project there are several factors to consider.
- What are your priorities: project cost, energy efficiency, comfort, indoor air quality? All of these are considered in each project; however, emphasis is given to alight with your values.
- When you are completed with your project will your builder, heating and air professional or insulator, test their work to ensure that energy consumption is in line with your goals?
- How will the energy costs of your building compare on a square footage basis with other homes in the County?
- What is the plan for ensuring quality indoor air so that you can breathe easy?
